I have a Compaq 6450 and am adding a PCI sound card and a PCI modem to it.

It has a PCI network adaptor fitted as standard and it's not gonna get used
so i'm thinking about removing it.
Can anyone confirm this is straightforward - the PC won't complain that the
network adaptor is missing when i reboot it?

Thanks.

Martin.

Thanks for the reply.

I removed the network adaptor and rebooted - got no problems from BIOS or
Windows.
Hoping it'll free up an IRQ on this oldish pc.

Yes it can simply be removed, but if the box has the slot
free (and you dont' need the NIC for something else, or even
if you do, NICs are cheap) it might be as well to leave it
in the box... makes backups easier, connecting for
diagnostic work, later use on LAN or broadband ISP, etc,
etc... IMHO, any PC ought to have a NIC in it as standard
equipment.
