Compaq 1000 All-In-Pne Printer compatibility with Windows XP

I have a Compaq A1000 All-In-One Printer. I had the
printer installed and working properly with Windows 98.
I recently instally Wondows XP Professional and now my
printer does not work. I spend an hour in a chat session
with a Compaq/HP representative and installed,
uninstalled, and installed again many, many times. When
I load the driver update that she suggested, it tells me
that I must have v1.3 or v1.4 for the XP update to have
any effect. Can someone tell me how to get this printer
to work with Windows XP? I am going insane. H E L P ! ! !

If you kept the printer connected to the PC when you upgraded, the drivers
are now corrupted and the printer must be COMPLETELY uninstalled.

Disconnect the printer from the PC.

Follow the instructions at

http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article One.htm

Go to www.hp.com and download the updated drivers for XP.

Install them... and do NOT connect the printer until the software tells you
to do so.
