Few more question requarding compact and repair.
Some of this is greek to me, but I am learing!
Upon reading previous post, is there a way to copy your dbf's, then compact
and repair the copy, then replace the original if the copy matches? Or am I
saying things that contradict each other?
Thanks
David

What do you mean by "match"? A compacted file is usually smaller than the
original one, & even if it is the same size, it will virtually never match
the original file on a "byte for byte" basis.

It >does< make sense to compact a database, save the original (perhaps by
renaming it), then use the compacted version in place of the original. The
compacted one is smaller & might run a bit faster. Kep the original around,
as a backup.
