Compacting

Some interesting changes compared to Outlook Express. You can turn off
automatic compacting but you can no longer manually compact. A
workaround seems to be to turn off automatic compacting and then to
turn
it back on when you want to compact. The default for automatic
compacting is 100 times but you can reset it to 1. Do this and close
Outlook Express and it compacts. All you then need to do is to turn
off
automatic compacting when you next open Outlook Express.

Is this the way others are now compacting or is there a better way?

I don't see compacting as a life or death matter^ and simply set auto to 10.

Ok - From Windows Mail:
Select: Tools
Drop down to the botom and select: Options
Then select: Advanced tab
Select: Maintenance button
Now select the: "Cleanup Now" button.

Hi Steve

I had picked up on your new utility through another forum. Thanks for
responding.

Another common problem with Windows Mail seems to be the inability to
delete messages. I see from your site your utility may also offer a
solution in these cases.

The deletion issue is more complex as there are entries in the database and
not in the message store.
