This compacting message is not a problem...just an annoyance. At the end of
each month I copy all my e-mail files to disk and then reload those that are
pertinent to my activities at the time. Is there any way I can shut off this
nag screen. I hate nag screens that don't have a "remind me later" feature.
I don't believe there is any direct way of doing this, but if anyone knows a
'backdoor' approach I would appreciate hearing about it. In the meantime I'll
compact them just to shut this thing off for a short time.

It is advisable to allow the compact to go ahead on a regular basis, to help
maintain the integrity of the WM database.
You can however set the compact prompt count to a higher number at
tools>options>advanced>maintenance.
The default is 100, it is felt that that is to high?
