Is it ever actually helpful to compact or defrag the registry?
Diggy,
The registry is pretty small compared to most data on modern computers
- the largest one on my computer is less than 5M. And what's in there
is pretty easy to screw up - it affects everything on your computer.
I tried a registry "clean up" once. I wouldn't do it again. It took
me months to get everything working again.
I would bet that if the size of your registry is relevant to your
system performance, you have more than just registry size problems.
If you want an evaluation of your system performance, try PC PitStop
