Compact messages !!!

Hi ,

I have heard from people thet when Outlook Express is closed, it prompts
for compacting messages and when we compact the messages, all the messages
in Outlook Express are lost. But, compating should basically cleanup the DBX
files by deleting the already deleted items according to my understanding.

Please let me know if this is a known issue and if there is a fix for
this. Thanks in advance.
