M Mark Schirle Feb 12, 2005 #1 Hi, Is there a way to compact the mdw file. Mine is around 33mb. Seems kinda big. TIA
T TC Feb 12, 2005 #2 Off the top of my head: Assuming youre workgroup file is system.mdw: 1. Close all databases & Access itself. 2. Copy system.mdw to a new name (eg. 1.mdw). 3. Open Access. 4. Use tools:database utilities:compact database (or whatever it is) to compact 1.mdw to 2.mdw. 5. Close Access. 6. Rename system.mdw to system.mdw-backup (or whatever) (just in case). 7. Rename 2.mdw to system.mdw. 8. Delete 1.mdw. For more information about compacting workgroup files, see the following google message-ID: [email protected] HTH, TC
