My USB2 reader is made by Verbatim. I suspect that it is not doing a good
job to transfer 1.5GB of digital photos as my transfer software Photo
Mechanic is indicating errors on every file after 50%.

Is there a known issue with transfering data from 2GB CompactFlash cards and
can anyone recommend a USB2 reader or Firewire/IEEE1394 reader which give
100% transfer of say up to 4GB of files?

How large are these files? Is it right after this 50% mark?
What if you transfer them without that software just copying
to the computer, will that work ok?

In general any modern flash reader should be able to do
this. I would wonder if your motherboard USB is flaky or
the cable (Or cable contacts) are bad. I find those clear
cables with LEDs in the end to be the most troublesome,
several times devices would not work using them.
