I used the compact and repair and now most of my files are
missing. The help desk said to compact and repair access
files regularly. What happens to files when this command
is used?

Whenever you run a query or report, your database will
expand to accomodate the results recordset. When the
query is closed, the database is supposed to shrink back
down and eliminate the now empty space but it doesn't
always happen, or happen completely. Compacting a
database rids it of any extraneous, non-utilized space and
shrinks the size of the file.

Repair is a self-diagnostic tool that looks for and fixes
common database errors.

It shouldn't be affecting the objects in the database, or
any other files, though. Are you sure it was the 'Compact
and Repair' that did it?

Hope this helps!
