With Outlook Express under XP I used to use the same mail-folder for me and
my wife.
So we always had the same mails, because we use only one mail adress.
This was easy becaus you could change the location of the mail folder whith
switching the mail folder.
If the new folder already had some content, you could use this for your
account. But now only a empty folder is accepted.
Does anyone have a idea or knows about a solution?

This is not very clear what your problem is or what you are trying to do?

All incoming mail goes to the Inbox by default, you can divert it to other
folders by using message rules, it is irrelevant if a folder is empty or
not.

Please explain why you would want to change the location of the mail folder?

Steve,

thanks for your answer. I'll try to make clear what I'm doing.

With XP there is a user for my wife and one for me.
Both users are using the same folder as location for mail with Outlook
Express.
With Outlook Express this is possible with
"extras\options\extended\maintenance\order location" to change to place
where to store your mails.
If you do that for both users, different users are able to work on an
identical mail repository that is always up to date when they are logged in.
even switching between users and letting Outlook Express open does not lead
to problems.
With Windows Mail under Vista I'm not longer able to use a existing mail
folder with already content in it as a replacment for the current one.
With Outlook Express I was asked, if I would like to use the current content
as my mail.

I hope this clarified things a bit.

Regards,
Artur

Not really Artur, the path that you describe does not exist in Outlook
Express? "extras\options\extended\maintenance\order location"

Are you sure you where using Outlook Express or M$ Outlook from the Office
Suite?

Sorry.

Ah the penny dropped at last :-)

instead of:
"extras\options\extended\maintenance\order location"
You meant:
Tools>options>maintenance>store folder.

Right, you want to share the same message store between two Vista User
Accounts. :-)

Unfortunately I can't help with this since I only have the one user account
on my PC, I do not want to create another one to test your problem.
Maybe someone else can help?

I will have a look around for some info.

Thanks a lot,

this exactly was my problem and is solved her.

P.S. The path I described was different because I'm using a German version
and there are some small differences.
