Common Tasks pane "stuck" on desktop

Some how the "Common tasks" pane has got "stuck" on my XP Home desk top. I can't select it, so can't close it. I have seen reference elsewhere to this as a bug, but the only suggestion was to run a piece of code that "fixed" a registry entry. i am very leery of messing with the regiatry. Is this issue known "officially" and is there ana pproved solution.

Thank you Rick. I had found this -- but it's great to have it confirmed by
an MVP. I was a bit worried about whether it was "safe".
