Common Problem ?

Greetings people.
I have another insignificant problem , with which I hope you can help.
While reading the posts my monitors screen flashes and the post returns to
the beginning of the message. I'm almost positive this is due to some
setting that needs to be made, as I've seen other posts with this same
problem.
So, why didn't I just follow the instructions given to solve it ?
Some of the answers had to do with replacing video drivers and numbers of
other solutions, that seemed too drastic. I decided to wait until the
problem was totally resolved before doing something that was not
necessary,and possibly causing myself additional problems. It's sort of like
waiting a couple of days before getting the latest MS Critical updates and
letting others ,that are more computer savvy, be the guinea pigs. No insult
intended.
So, has a method of curing the oddity been settled on as of yet ?
 
This might sound silly but when things like this happen I
just shutoff. Let computer sit a few minutes and re-
start. Problem 'sometimes' is fixed.

However, I do not have any problems, that I know of , other than when
viewing MS Newsgroups. This seems to be a settings problem, experienced by
not a few on these NGs. Of course ,needing a new video driver can never be
discounted and I thank you for your recommendation.

Do you still have background compacting turned on in OE? Most of the long
time users of this program turn that off and compact manually. Am thinking
that maybe XP is busy working in the background and that flicker you're
seeing is a side effect ... but I could be wrong ;)

Also check in your settings, how often you have OE checking for new
messages. If every 5 minutes and the OE window flickers every 5 minutes...
the two may be related.

correct about my settings. I turned off "compact messages in background "
and
" check for new messages every 5 minuets." We'll see what effect that has,
but I'm almost positive that you are right, again. I'm sure glad you aren't
charging for all the advice you've given me, there is no way I could afford
it.
