I have a very large Spreadsheet with entries in Column “Aâ€. The cells also
contain a comment to let the user know what kind of entries should be on a
particular row. When the user freezes the pane with column “A†showing why
can we no longer see the comment? Is there an easy way to keep the comment
visible when the user scrolls to the right? TIA

Using Comments.....No easy way.........not even sure if there is hard way<g>

Instead of cell Comments try a Data Validation Input Message.

your comments will only be visible when the user scrolls back to the starting
cells that are next to the cells that have the comments in them, the only way
now to make your comments appear is to freeze the panes after one more cell
and adjust the size of the comment using "edit comment" so that it fits into
the size of that cell.

you can also adjust the size of the cells to fit for your comment's actual
size so that when he targets the cell none of the comment will be cut when
freeze panes is applied.

Hi,

I prefer the Data Validation choice but the drawback is there is no
indicator that a comment exists. So to see it the user must select the cell.

Another alternative is to insert a new column to the left of column A and
put the comments in that columns. Narrow that column and leave the freeze
panes on the new column B. Widen column B enough so you can see the complete
comments.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

Cheers,
