Is this program worth installing (on win98)? Thanks

I would go with Ad-Aware and/or Spybot Search and Destroy. Probably having
and using both is a good idea.

Or get Webroot Spy Sweeper and not have to have the others.

You may not be familiar with how SpywareBlaster works. It works in the
background to keep Spyware from being installed using ActiveX controls.
Spybot can be setup to do that,
but it's much more limited in scope and the developer even recommends using
SpywareBlaster.

But it's not very good. I have it running on my system and it misses
lots of spyware which is then picked-up by Spybot and sometimes AdAware.

Strange. I've experienced just the opposite.

If you use IE, then absolutely yes.

If you use IE, and your security settings are wide open, absolutely.
But you might be better off securing IE properly. Verify your
security settings with a browser security check.

Even if you use another browser, the above webpages will be of
interest to you. They opened my eyes a bit.

If you are still worried about spyware (and you should be), AdAware,
HijackThis, and Spybot S&D are as good as anything in protecting you.
