I have generate report in access 2000 and want to export
to excel. After exporting amounts are stripped of any
commas.

For example, an amount of 8,194.56 is saved as 8194.56 in
Excel.

another problem is that Dump to Excel function dumps date
information as numerical values rather than in the date
format displayed in the Report.

For example, a date displayed as 01/09/2003 in a report is
saved as 37865 in Excel

please help

The answer is in the formatting of the cells in Excel. Dates are stored as numbers, and numbers are stored without the commas. All you have to do is select the cells which you are interested in, go to format on the menu, and select from the options available.

For the date cells select "Date", and choose the format you require. For the number cells select "number", and check the "use , separator for 1000's box"

Hi Rose,

You can always just apply the necessary formats to the cells in the
Excel sheet.
