Windows XP command promt problem

I have a PC which is running on Windows XP professional. My problem is whenever I execute or use the command prompt my pc will restart, for this reason I cannot use anymore the command prompt. What is the cause of this problem and how can I solve this problem. I hope you can help me on this problem. Thanks. :)
 
Do you get an error message at all? Also, how does it restart (is it an instant reset, or a clean windows restart).
 
I've had a look and I can't see anything else on the net about people getting resets like that, and I can't think of any reason why it should happen. I presume you are running the "cmd" command to get to the prompt?

If you need DOS access, something like DOSBox might be a temporary workaround:
