command for file type not available

my file folders won't open when i double click them.
instead, it takes me to the 'choose program to open with' dialog box.
i can choose 'open' by right clicking, but under file types for file
folders, "open" is not available as a command i can choose as default in
folder options via control panel.

when i tried to add it as a command under folder options, was told there is
no such program.

getting sick of right clicking...
and also of not having useable desktop links to certain file folders (they
come up with the same dialog box)

please help!

yes, i'm a moron, that's why i'm asking.
sorry, but i didn't couldn't find my other thread after the quasi-answer
didn't solve the problem.
as for 'abusive', i don't think one unintentional mistake qualifies,
although one purposeful cut-down might.

it would be great if you have an answer for me, i'd love it. if not, then
why waste your time?
