Could please tell me if comet is part of windows,if not how do I get rid of
it?Thanks in advance Al Wutzke

No, comet cursor is not part of windows, and is spyware. I recommend
getting lavasoft ad-aware and hijackthis. Run the ad-aware program
first, and remove all comet cursor related entries, and ie cookies. Then
run hijackthis and see if it has modified any other settings.

---Also, uninstall it via add/remove programs first if possible.

Greetings --

No, it's most definitely not part of Windows. To deal with
problems caused by any sort of "adware" and/or "spyware,"such as
Gator, Comet Cursors, Xupiter, Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA, and their
remnants, that you've deliberately (but without understanding the
consequences) installed, two products that are quite effective (at
finding and removing this type of scumware) are Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search & Destroy from
http://security.kolla.de/. Both have free versions. It's even
possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your system
against most future intrusions. I use both and generally perform
manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.
