I get a message that the Comet toolbar is trying to install
everytime I restart despite asking for it to be removed.
Anyone know where this one is hiding so I can manually
delete it.

Thanks

John Wilson

Yeah I get this as well so i'd be interested to hear any replies to this
one. It seems like the Antispyware thinks it has removed it so I wonder if
it's reinstalling itself everytime the computer restarts.

Try running Anti-Spyware in Safe Mode.

I've tried that and it does clear it when I do it in safe mode, I can even
reboot back into save mode and run another scan and it doesn't pick it up.
However as soon as I boot it back into my normal account it picks it up
again.

Follow this, as last resort you have an excellent forum.

But were you running a full system scan Steve? On the Scan Page, choose Scan
Options > Full System Scan.

Hi I know this sounds silly but have you checked the
add/remove screen for any reference to Comet Cursor
assuming thats the toolbar you mean(which comes bundled
with cartoon clips from twisted humor)

If you did already or it isnt the same comet toolbar im
thinking of then try these 2 free removal programs in
safe mode with system restore switched off.(If you think
you have only recently picked this toolbar up use the
system restore to go back to a point when you know it was
clean) If not then disable and try these

Bazooka Adware & Spyware Scanner

http://www.download.com/Bazooka-Adware-and-Spyware-
Scanner/3000-8022-10247782.html?part=dl-
bazooka&subj=dl&tag=button

Spy Sweeper - (15 day free Trial)

http://www.download.com/Webroot-Spy-Sweeper/3000-8022_4-
10301356.html

These both target Comet Cursor as well but if its a
different product and isnt adware these might not help
but well worth a try.The other big removal programs are
Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware so maybe worth giving
them a try to if you think its not a genuine toolbar,Ive
only heard of the comet cursor one so cant really help
more than this.

Yep I was running a full system scan. The strange thing is that i've ran
adaware as well to try and clear it up and it doesn't detect it. Also it's
not listed in add/remove programes

I'll try the other tools that Andy mentioned and see if they pick it up.
Thanks for the help everyone.

.
Try FxIeplgn by Symantec. Read all the info that's on
the page where the tool is located prior to downloading
and running the tool.
