i have tried the above code and several variations of it but i can't get the
data from book b
 
Try in the below format...Rename the sheet name to suit.

='d:\[B.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$1:$C$46
 
i trie the code that you bue it only worked once after i closed and saved the
file when i reopened it id didn't work again
