I have an unbound combo box on a form that has a data source of a predefined
query. The bound column is 3 which is the client id. When the combo box is
selected, the list drops down, a selection is made, but the combo box data
remains empty. If I change the datasource of the combo box to a query
defined in the property of the combo box data source, than the list drops
down, a selection is made, and the selection remains in the combo box. Why
won't it allow me to use the predefined query?
 
What is a "predefined query"? How does that differ from a query that you've
created and saved under its own name, and that can be selected from the
dropdown list in the Row Source property for the combo box in design view?
 
predefined is a query that I saved. An sql statement in the datasource
property is what was working. I found the problem however. I had the
number of colums set incorrectly. I should have been looking at "all"
property settings rather than "data" property settings. I get used to
access yet. Thanks.
