Hi Newtechie
WOJO's is a great site! I particularly like the use of ULEAD GIF
animator which I haven't seen before.
In the example, he has combined several products, however the first four
are to create components while MM is to put it all together? ie
transitions and music.
The following is targeted at my interpretation of the detail of Pat's
requirement rather than a general question of whether you can use one
product with another.
In Pats requirements:
- Add Photos (in Moviemaker)
- Music (in Moviemaker)
- Credits (in Moviemaker)
- Transitions (in Nero) (Note that I run a full version of Nero and am
interpreting this as transitions between scenes in a movie not
compositing a DVD)
I don't believe Wojo tried to add music before the transitions, this I
believe fundamentally cant be done. This is because:
- (add photos, credits) are actually applied to individual components
- transitions apply between components and
- music generally applies (and therefore requires continuity) across the
entire movie.
You must add music with or after the transitions if the music crosses
several scenes.
Pat can probably do the following:
Alternative A:
Pass 1: Photos and credits in MM
Pass 2: Transitions in Nero
Pass 3: Music in Moviemaker
But each pass causes degradation(particularly in MM), involves added
complexity and in musics case MM probably adds no intrinsic value so why
not add the music in Nero.
Alternative B
Pass 1: Photos and credits in MM
Pass 2: Transitions and Music in Nero
This has less degradation and a simpler process
Further, depending on the detailed requirements, it may be (though by no
means certain) that Nero has all the function required and Moviemaker
potentially also either has or can be extended to have all the
functionality required. Therefore it may be possible to use a single
product using a simpler process with less degradation due to multiple
passes.
