Combining/merging partitions?

How do I combine two partitions on my external USB drive under Vista?

Right now there is only one program I would trust - because I have used it
to do such. The program is Acronis Disk Director Suite. Only the newest
version is 100% Vista compatible.

I would NOT trust Partition Magic to combine partitions as it is not 100%
compatible with Vista.

Delete second partition and extend first with system utility
diskpart.exe.
 
That is NOT combining two partitions.

Right. But if each partition has something on it you loose. People want to
"combine" without loss.
