combining after cutting

When you "cut" a clip that is already on your storyboard, how can you
repair that "cut" and combine the clips together again?

I realize you can "undo" a cut - but I'm talking much later when going
back an "undoing" all your changes is not an option.

When I select both portions on the storyboard, the "Combine" option is
grayed out.

================================
The Combine option only works for joining
the clips in the original unedited sequence.

If you save the file in a movie format....wmv
or .avi...you will have a combined file.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

So, once you drop a videoclip on the storyboard and cut that videoclip;
there is no way you can undo that cut other than directly "undoing" the
action using one of the editing options.

Once you've cut it and done dozens of other operations on your project,
there is really no easy way to patch that cut. You basically have to
live with it - right?

A little experimentation should answer
your questions....

Here's all I know about it....

When you import a video...there is a
checkbox on the Import File screen
that says: "Create clips for video files".

If you import this way...and drag all the
clips to the Timeline in "sequence"....
with no transitions....you can use the
"Combine" option to join them.

If you drag a clip to the timeline and
manually split it...you can use the
"Combine" option to re-join the sections
if they are in the original sequence with
no transitions.

So...after all the editing...if you still have
two or more clips in the original sequence....
with no transitions...you should be able
to select them and re-join them.

Ahhh! That's it!

It's the TRANSITIONS that have been causing me to believe that it can't
be done. Once I got rid of the transitions the "Combine" option again
became available.

Thanks!
