Combining 4:3 and 16:9

The video I'm making is mostly in widescreen 16:9 format, but I have a few
clips I need to add which are in 4:3 format. Currently, when adding the
different screen format, it's stretching out the 4:3 to fit the 16:9. Is
there a way to add black bars to the right and left of the 4:3 video so that
it's formatted correctly rather than stretching the image?
Thanks for your help!

Just wondering if anyone has any clue on how to incorporate both screen
formats without having one of them distorted. I need to complete editing this
movie before the weekend and this is the last issue that I need to address.
My guess is that Movie Maker doesn't have that capability, but would like it
verified so I know I'm not going crazy. I would think there should be an easy
way to put bars on the right and left to keep the aspect ratio, but don't see
where that's done.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I just did that tonight with my vacation videos... I started in standard
mode and changed to widescreen about 15 minutes into them.

My approach is to take the clips to VirtualDub and crop them to align with
16:9 instead of having black bars at the sides...

No, Movie Maker can't do it without a specialized custom effect.... you
might find xml code to do it by searching or asking at
