COM port woes

I have an old DOS program which communicates with some external
hardware via the COM port (typically COM1). This program tends to be a
bit picky about COM ports, but it runs OK on a Win98 machine when
booted to DOS. However, the program doesn't seem to be communicating
properly with the COM port when run from the Win2000 CMDprompt.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up making a bootable floppy disk
with just the Windows 98 command.com on it. Once I got the laptop to
try booting from the floppy drive before the hard drive, I was able to
boot the machine to Win98 command prompt and successfuly run my
program. Luckily, the program is small enough that the program and its
data files all fit on a 1.44M floppy and I don't need to share files
between the hard drive and that floppy.

Not exactly the highest-tech solution, but it worked!
