com port 1

I'm trying to install Palm 3 on my laptop but i keep getting the massage that
Com port 1 is unaccessable. Any suggestions on how to rectfy this would be
very appreciated

1) DOES your laptop have a com (serial) port?
2) Is it enabled? Look in the Device manager, under Ports.

That means you nave neither a COM (aka serial ) nor LPT (AKA printer or
parallel port) and therefor are missing the basic hardware to
communicate with your palm. Or they are disabled in the BIOS, do you
have a trapezoid shaped port with 9 pins on it? If you do, there's
hope yet.

Check here for possible workarounds and compatable usb-serial adapters.
If any.
