Hello,

Using an older version, MS Excel 97

Some simple stuff, but I have a single column of numbers that for
some
reason, is taking up two row spaces, while everything else is taking
up the
normal single row.

Probably due to my playing around with the formatting, somehow

How do I get this column to look like everything else ?

Thank you very much,
Bob

Bob,
Text will extend into the cell on the right if the cell on the right is blank.

Cell formatting includes a "Wrap Text" setting that forces text
into multiple lines. Check for this in...
Format (menu) | Cells | Alignment (tab) | "Wrap text" checkbox

When entering text in a cell, Alt + Enter forces text into a new line.

Hi,

Thanks for help.

Wrap Text box is Unchecked.

The problem is not the number going into the adjacent right column.

It is a vertical two rows in (just that) column that appears, and is
taken up by the small numbers
Other columns have the normal single line spacings; the number column
is two row spacings high.

Thoughts on ?

Thanks again,
Bob

Columns have width, Rows have height.
The column width is always the same for the entire column.
The row height is always the same for the entire row.

However, two or more cells can be "merged" resulting in the appearance
of a single large cell that extends across rows or columns.
You can check for that in the same place as Wrap Text.
(select one of those "large cells" before checking)

Hi,

Yup, that did it.

The unchecking of the "Merge Cells" box did the trick.

Much thanks.
Really appreciate your time and help.
