I use Vuescan 8.1.5 with an Epson Perfection 1650 for flat bed
scanning. Everything is fine except that some reds, specifically that
of the Swiss national railway system, come out too magenta. I've
profiled, calibrated and messed about with settings to no avail. i
can't imagine anyone else with the same specific colour problem but
some general advice would be appreciated. Or is there another railway
buff with the same problem?

Some points:
- Is your whole system color managed ?
- which working color space do you use ?
- Maybe it is an out of gamut color for your working color space
and/or your monitor.
- Try to set in VueScan
Color Tab | Pixel colors
and check whether the red is out of gamut.
