do most colour laser printers use the same toner? I'm trying to sort out
an oki c3300 colour laser printer (not getting very far though) and I
wondered if the toner used in this printer is the same toner as many
other printers...
I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was but I'm a newbie to this.
Thanks if anyone experienced can shed light...
No, all toners are not the same. different brands of printers have
different fuser temps and roller preasures. Some fuse at 239 deg F others at
higher temps. For instance my Oki c5150n has a fuser temp of 446 deg F. also
the speed of the paper going through the fuser preasure rollers varies
between machines.
The original toner carts supplied by Oki leave a fairly high gloss finish
even on regular paper, most others leave a lower gloss or matt finish, so
there is also a great variation in toner refill kits some are good but some
do not give very good results.
The OEM toner carts for my Oki 5150 sell here in Winnipeg for about $174.00
each color and black is about $95.00 plus taxes for a total of about
$690.00 Cdn which is about what I paid for the printer. There is no way I am
going to pay those prices, Did a lot of searching and Found very good
compatible Carts at
www.provantage.com For a 4 Pak CMYK 5000 sheet carts for
about $135.00 for four plus shipping which is a hell of a good deal.
The carts are Brand new built by Media Sciences and are A1, I am on my
second set and am totaly happy with them. They do not have quite as much
gloss as the originals which is fine by me.
