Synapse Syndrome

Outlook 2007 does not seem to be able to use Colour Categories on IMAP
accounts. As IMAP allows arbitrary labels on files, I cannot see why this
has to be the case.

Is there a third party add-on that caters for this deficiency?

Thanks

No. The reason outlook doesn't support color categories on imap is because
the flags can't be synced to the server. Whatever arbitrary label some imap
servers may support, its not the same property as flags.

I meant Colour Categories, and Outlook 2003 seemed to work with different
coloured flags.

As IMAP allow artbitary labels, it would be great if the next version of
Outlook could make them, for Colour Categories, whether or not other
software can understand them, as they can otherwise be ignored.

I have just realised that I can actually use Colour Categories on IMAP
accounts, which goes against everything I have read on the subject. As I
access the same Outlook .pst files over the internet (Windows Server 2008
Remote App), it does not matter so much that the labels are not server-side.
It seems to be working perfectly, with rules.
