When I go to change my sent items folder view to by sender
and go back to my inbox, I will lose my color rules. Any
suggestions or hints. I am running Outlook 2002 with
service pack 2. My operating system is W2K SP3 and I have
IE 6 SP1.

What do you mean by, "color rules?" Are you referring to Automatic
Formatting? If so, this will change if you switch to a different view (the
automatic formatting rules are part of the view). You need to select View |
Current View | Customize Current View | Automatic Formatting to set your
automatic formatting rules for that view.

So I need to create the color formatting in every view I
have? This only occurs when I switch to a different
folder and then back to my inbox.

What view is set on the Inbox? If you select View | Current View | Customize
Current View | Automatic Formatting, are your rules still there?

ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

This has got to be the MOST annoying bug in Outlook. I've seen people post
this problem dozens of time, everyone
gives the standard answer about Automatic Formatting, but I've never seen
this problem solved.

It's very simple. You want to highlight a group of messages by color
(unread, sent to me, etc.). You do exactly
as you describe blow and set up and Automatic Formatting rule. It works -
all the messages with "Urgent" in the
subject are now red, or whatever.

But then it goes away. If you jump to ANY other folder - sent items,
personal folder, etc. and come back to
Inbox, the colors are gone. The rules ARE STILL THERE if you go back and
look, and they will come back
after you go see if the rules are still there, but they will go away again.

This worked fine in Outlook 2000. I wish I NEVER upgraded - that was an
important feature to me.
