I have two org chart files and each file has different color pallets in
object mode. I need to have boxes that are colored in each file/chart the
identical color. I have opened both files in PowerPoint but in object mode I
get different color pallets. How do I get both color pallets to contain the
same available colors?

Can you clarify what you mean by "in object mode"? Are you talking VBA or
something else?

Which version of PowerPoint? How did you insert the org chart?

I am using 2003. The org charts were developed in Microsoft Organization
Chart that we have included with PowerPoint, which may have been a PP add-in.

When we open a chart in PP, and click in the crart area, the chart area is
outlined by 8 dots. we then double click on the chart area and Microsoft
Organization Chart open the chart area in Object mode - Object is what
appears at the top of the window. Object mode is where we define the details
of the chart, reporting relationships, box outline style & color, box color,
etc.

We maintain about 30 charts in about 7 files and we recently added a new
color to identify a type of chart change. Two of files have different color
pallets and I need for all of our charts to have the same identical color.

How do I get the same color pallet across all 30 charts/files?

Okay, I believe you're using the old Org Chart that is available in Office
97 and 2000. It was replaced with a built-in diagramming "applet" in PPT
2002 and 2003, but you can still add and edit the old org charts in PPT if
you install Org Chart and use Insert | Object.

Anyway, from what I can tell, these Org Charts get their colors from the
slide color scheme. If you choose, say, Boxes | Color on the menu bar when
the Org Chart is opened, you'll see a small color palette you can choose
your colors from.

The ones in the top row (at least -- Org Chart keeps crapping out on me, so
I can't do as much digging as I'd like here) come from the slide color
scheme. The first swatch is the one PPT labels "text and lines." The 2nd is
"background." The 3rd, which is the default for the boxes in Org Chart, is
"fills." The 4th is "Accent." The 5th is "Accent and Hyperlink," and the
6th is "Accent and Followed Hyperlink." The 7th is "Shadows," and the 8th is
"Title Text." All the rest of the colors seem to be standard.

So, you can change those available colors in Org Chart by changing your
slide color scheme in PowerPoint. Here's more on color schemes in PPT:
