How can I change the color of the page (background color)? I've tried to
right click and choose page properties, but when I go to formatting, the
computer doesn't allow me to change the color.

I am not using a theme. But I would like to change the color of the page
(background) and I would like to insert a clipart as the back ground of the
page. How can I do?

When you try to change the color in Page Properties, what do you mean by
"the computer doesn't allow ... "?

Are you getting an error message?

Try going to Tools, Page Options, Authoring and checking all the boxes and
setting Browsers drop down to custom. Now see if you can change the colors.
 
I tried the suggestion below, but it did not work.
When I go to page properties and I go to formatting, the the computer
doesn't allow me to change the color, there is no error message. The computer
doesn't allow me to check or uncheck the boxes, the page is all gray. It
looks the page is not available.
Something else I could try?

I have not created an address for my web site (URL). I have just the names of
the files: index, collection, contact us and shopping cart. I had just
started building this web site and I noted the page is gray and I want change
to other color or insert a background clipart.
What I should do?

The template I used was from the front page I had in my computer. I opened
the front page, then I chose new web site, the computer gave me some options
of template and I chose one of them. I have not created a name to my website
(ww.xxxx.com) because I did not get to this phase yet. All I am doing is
working on the pages of my website on my computer. When it is done I would
create a name and then publish the web site.
Is that ok start like that? Or I do have to have a theme in order to start
the website, how can I do that?

You do not need to use a theme if you don't want to. Just create a site on
your PC, File, New and choose an Empty Web. Then start creating your pages.

IF you used a Theme and possibly also a Template, the background is
controlled by the Theme and you'd have to modify the Theme to get at the
background - you can't change it from Page Properties.

I've just realized that when I open page properties and click on the tab
formatting, there is a note below saying: "Page has theme applied. Some
settings are not applicable". That's why maybe I can not change the
background color.
Now, how can I choose a page without theme? How can I insert a clip art that
is the background of my page?

How can I modify the theme to get the background I want.

controlled by the Theme and you'd have to modify the Theme to get at the
background - you can't change it from Page Properties.

Open the page. Choose Format, Theme. Click the arrow next to No Theme and
choose Apply to all pages or just to one page. Then you can go to page
properties and apply your color.
