The color of the icon names on my desktop are white.
I would like to change the color to black.
How do I do this?

Hii, Go to display properties (right click properties on desktop) go to
apperance tab > advanced > select desktop and select a differnt background
the icons text color is opposite to the background color u choose so u
choose white they become black u choose black or dark blue they become
white.

Hope this helps...,

Unfortunately I couldn't follow completely through.
I got as far as "Advanced". When I clicked on "desktop", I was not presented
with anything that resembled "background".

Thats because the info you got pointed to the wrong spot.

Right click Desktop
Select Properties
Click the "Desktop" tab (not the appearance one)
See that box that says "color"?
Click on it and choose a light color for black text, choose a dark
color for white text.
