color/grayscale/black & white options

I need to state my case a little more clearly. I have some
drawings that were done in PowerPoint that have sections
of them that have been grayed out. They are graphs and
each one highlights a certain section but the others need
to be there as a reference. All of my other
imported .jpgs etc. gray out nicely when printed grayscale
but the graphs print as straight black and white unless
printed as color, which washes out my bullets etc on all
of the other pages. This is a book for a paid seminar and
the master must be of excellent quality for printing.
This occurs on every printer in the building so i have
narrowed it down to a PowerPoint issue rather than a
printer issue. Please help - deadline is looming!!

Have you tried editing how powerpoint will print your graphs by doing this

View menu
Black and white (color/grayscale>grayscale on XP)
Then right click your graphs and choose "Black and white setting"

Then you have various options for how powerpoint will print these graphs
e.g. auto, grayscale, light grayscale, inverted, etc.

When you print (again I'm not sure what version you are using)...but do you
tick the black and white or grayscale options?

I will try that, thank you. I have Windows 2000
Professional and this is the first really major issue i
have had.
 
I don't have those options evidently on Professional. I
will keep trying. The strange thing is that it is only a
problem with the drawings done in PowerPoint!
 
These options are in all versions of PPT since 97 at least.
You have them. We just need to figure out where MS put them last when you
weren't looking.

My guess is that it left them on the Infamous Hidden Menu.

Click View on the main menu, then click the little arrow-like thingie at the
bottom of the menu.
This forces PPT to show you all the menu options instead of a few that it
selects for you.
Including the B/W (or Black and White or B&W/Grayscale/Color or whatever)
one.

I have all the options but all they do is show the
presentation as color/grayscale/black and white - it
doesn't allow me to do anythings beyond choosing those.
The other responder suggested that there were more options
once you chose one of the 3 like inverting etc. That's
what i can't seem to find. I have also tried 'ungrouping'
the drawings, thinking that this might be preventing the
grayscale option, but they still print as straight black
and white when i choose grayscale. The frustration level
is mounting!

OK,

While you are on the "view black and white option"

Then....."right click the object that you want to change"...then you get
various options...eg. grayscale, white,black,inverse etc

Ah, but once it's in B/W view, then you can rightclick on any object, choose
B/W from the *popup* menu and choose one of the options there.
