color change when inserting text into a forward

When I forward a note in Outlook 2000, I sometimes have
reason to edit the text slightly. For some reason, the
inserted text is blue (not black like the rest of most my
notes) and it sticks in a space on either side of the
insertion.

This slows down my work because I have to keep deleting
the spaces and recoloring text black. Any way to change
this?
