I used to run 98se and if I worked in the registry, when I closed it,
everything collapsed. Is there a program/batch file that will do this in xp
or some registry entry?

Thanks In Advance

How to Prevent Regedit.exe from Using the Last State (Q244004)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q244004

After you start Regedit, press and hold down SHIFT+LEFT ARROW to collapse
all the entries back to the My Computer entry.

Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit.
In the right pane, for the value LastKey.

Double-click it and clear the string. Then right-click the Regedit key (in
the lefthand pane) and select Permissions. Set Permissions to Deny for
any/all users/groups.

Thank you kelly, once again you have given the exact answer I was looking
for. I edited the registry and now the registry tree is fully collapsed
everytime I open it. You are the best.

If you collapse it yourself before closing it will be collapsed next time
you open it, at least that works for me.

If that is the kind of response you give, then you need to quit posting
answers. I don't know if you are being a jerk or you are just stupid or you
didn't really bother to read my post to find out what I was looking for.
Which ever catagory you fall into, you do a great disservice to this forum
with that kind of reply.

I downloaded regopen.vbs from Kelly's website, decided to use it with
a shortcut so that I could keep the registry as I left it as the
default, or enter with it collapsed to My Computer via the shortcut.
Great to have!
