What settings do you have in BIOS?

Do you have SYSTEM PERFORMANCE MODE (TURBO) should be AUTO

Do you have MEMORY TURBO MODE (ENABLED) should be DISABLED

This seems to make a HUGE PROBLEM

Hi.

The bios is set to defaults:

Memory Turbo: = DISABLED
System Performance = AUTO ,

I think the comments of another guy was right...the board seemed to be
fine during the warm weather...it just started when the room temp was
lower (around high 60's F).

I've tried the origanl bios (1002) and also 1007...no change.
I'm beginning to suspect that the cystal osc (Clock) is either
defective or the circuit design/component is bad, thus leading to
incorrect frequency issues. Such problems on components are known to
be temp sensitive.

I'll try phoning ASUS today.

Thx for your ideas

Interesting what you say about the weather. I live in the southern
hemisphere. It's summer now and I have had no cold boot problems.
However in the winter I got it about once every 3 weeks..

I too have the similar cold boot issue with a P4P800D and have already been
thinking along these lines. I live in New England and it has been a very
cold winter. One thing that I have done which has almost eliminated the cold
boot issue is to set a boot password in the BIOS. When I turn it on, it
stops and asks for a password before it boots up. I just let the computer
sit like that for a few minutes to "warm up". May seem silly but it seems to
work...go figure! I'm very curious to see if the issue resolves itself in
the warmer months.

Sounds good to me. I had been thinking of just taking a hair dryer
and heating up the inside of the case for a few minutes prior to
booting. From past experience I feel certaing that it would work.
However, ASUS refuses to include a hair dryer with each board ;-) so
I guess one should just return the defective ones for replacement.

Your board didn't with the coupon?
