Hi,

Can Access 97 runtime & Access 2002 runtime coexist on
the same machine (Win XP OS)?

Regards,
Anon.

Yes they can, with perhaps some reservations in the modules area..

In order to do this, install Access 2002 first. Then, in a different directory (like Office97 instead of just plain Office) install Access 97. If you install them the other way round, Access 2002 will upgrade 97 and you won't have both versions.

Actually, the advice we normally give is to install them in chronological
order (i.e.: Access 97 first). All of the newer versions of Office give you
the option to not uninstall older versions.

But I am concerned with Runtime version, not the full
version. Will they be able to function when both of them
are installed?

They will co-exist but you will have to ensure the shortcut target
contain the path and file name of the appropriate version of
msaccess.exe. Standard blurb follows.

Do note that running an Access runtime version with a different
version of Access, either retail or runtime, can be very troublesome,
inconvenient and downright frustrating. See my Microsoft Access ODE
or MOD Runtime Installation Troubles Tips page at my website.

If you are running in a controlled environment, such as a corporation
or office, you can likely handle all the problems which will crop up.
However if you are looking at distributing to multiple clients at
remote locations then things get even more troubles.
