We have 3 computers on our home network. 2 computers (XpPro & XpHome) have
developed the following problem on Windows loadup. The computers boot, we
see the default WINDOWS XP loading screen, followed by a blank screen with a
rectangular box. This box has symbols in it menu bar and another coded
symbol in the upper left of the box in the subject area, followed by an OK
button at the bottom. If we click the X to close the program nothing
happens, if we click the OK button, windows proceeds to the Welcome screen,
then loads to the destop.

What is this box, how do we get of rid of it, and why did it happen on the 2
computers?

Any help and info would help, as this is very aggravating at each boot up.

Hello !
Is this permanent statement (did it exist since you first installed Windows
) . What happened between the time you had no problems and now . Use System
Restore to restore to a good state when there was no problem . System Restore
is a special XP function which allows you to restore your computer to a state
exactly it was before so this should do the trick .Goto
Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore and follow the
instructions .

Have had Win XP for years, this is the first time its happened. Sys restore
does not get rid of it. Have installed, Anti virus, regit cure, spybot, xspy
all because we had lost all our .exe files. They weren't actually lost they
were turned all into ink files. Downloaded Doug's Win xp exe files restorer
as Sys restore was not available. It worked and all exe files were restored.
Then this happened a few weeks later. They are both on deifferent
computers, so what was installed is different for both.
