Please lose the Caps Lock Key. It's considered shouting.

Included on what disks? To which codecs are you referring?

DVD decoding software is available from various manufacturers,
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/getmore/plugins.aspx#DVDDecoder

Codecs for WMV files are included in Windows XP.

Codecs for MOV files are only available using QuickTime.

Codecs for AVI files vary as to which software was used to compress the
files in the first place. DIVX codecs can be obtained from www.divx.com and
for XVID from www.xvidmovies.org

icould play dvd's b4 i had to reformat/delete partitions..

my cpu came preloaded w/dvd playing app. had to reformat drive. downloaded
WMP 11 beta (indicates codecs included). I dont like buying software via
e-dnld. Where Is codecs (might it be) stored, win XP, driver, other disk??

Check your notebook manual. There should be a way to reinstall individual
applications that came 'bundled' with your operating system. You're looking
for WinDVD or PowerDVD.
