I have a PowerPoint 2000 presentation with mpeg2 video clips. This works
fine on my home machine XP (fully up to date) and my laptop W2000. The
problem is my wife's new laptop which is also XP and updated can not play
the same presentation as the videos do not run.

On her laptop Windows Media Player will play them ok but mplay32.exe will
not (it will on my PC & laptop).
This would seem to point to it being codec issue, would you agree?

If you agree my question are:

1) How can I find out a list of Codec's that are installed on the working PC
so I can compare it to the problem PC.

2) Is there an obvious Codec to install.

3) Can I find out a Codec association with the source video

Yes and no. MPEG1 and 2 are slightly different babies than AVIs.

Control Panel>Sounds and Multimedia>Hardware>Video Codecs
But (because of the above) MPEG drivers may not be listed there.
2) Is there an obvious Codec to install.

I'd be surprised if the Elecard MPEG decoder at www.elecard.com doesn't
solve the problem.
The demo version puts a tiny logo in the corner of all clips but you can buy
it for about $15.
3) Can I find out a Codec association with the source video

G-spot helps, but you may have trouble finding it:
