I have created a WMV format movie and it plays back fine on my PC. I then burnt it to CD and tried to play it back on my old Win 98 laptop. I get audio only and am assuming it is a codec problem. My aim is to send the CD to my mother who also has an Win 98 PC also very likely to be missing the correct codecs. As she will not be capable of connecting to the internet and downloading codecs I was hoping to include the required codecs on the very CD I send to her....I reckon she could manage that....

Can anyone tell me if there is a single codec I need to install on a Win 98 machine to allow playback of a WMV movie created in Movie Maker 2? Where can I get an executable install program for it

My mother will be most grateful to you.......

Michael,

Probably best if she installs the full version 9 codec package.... there's a
link to it on the Setup > Software page of www.papajohn.org

You could include it on the CD and talk her through the installation. Check
her version of the Windows Media Player too.
