Okay, so I cleaned out my computer about a week ago, then I go to import a
video file in Windows Movie Maker and it says:

[File name] cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file
is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and
install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to
import the file again.

It's a .wmv file and I don't understand why i can't fix it. I'm afraid that
I accidently deleted the codec when I cleaned my computer out, is there any
way I can get the codec back?

PLEASE HELP ME!!! :(

First of all try disabling any codec's/filters already installed by clicking
Tools -> Options -> [Compatibility tab] and removing the checkmarks next to
anything listed. Then try opening the video and see what happens.
If it works then one by one put a checkmark back into the boxes until it
fails to work. By doing this you are able to find which codec, if any, is
causing a conflict.
If after removing all the codec's the video still doesn't work then try
downloading the Windows XP Codec pack from here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm

Or try system restore back to before you did your cleaning out.
