Code 31

For reasons that are not clear, I have lost my cd, dvd+rw
drive. When attempting to correct problem I keep getting
following message: Windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device (code 31). What do I need to do?
How can I restre? Thanks for your help

Play around with installing/removing the Adaptec CD burning suite
recently? Even if not, take a look below...

there's a reply to that exact question in MS support - search code 31 or adaptec
it involves futzing with regedi
