You generally use a single composite cable.... from the yellow video in
socket on the capture card to the yellow video out on the VCR.

Audio is usually red and white... and goes from the composite audio out on
the VCR to a mini jack cable which connects to line in on the soundcard.

Coax cable is generally a cable that is carrying a signal from an antenna,
cable box or satellite box and requires a tv tuner card to be installed in
the PC. It carries both audio and video.

So have you ever heard of ethernet, it also uses COAX cable.
Coax cable has many uses and is found in many places. Coax cable carries
video only, and or composite video and audio quite well.

His composite signal is probably on a coax cable, so please do not think
that a coax is only used to carry signals from an antenna. Coax that carries
signals to an antenna is called feedline, transmission line, and even
heliax.
