I am replacing the cmos battery in my computer and need to know is I need to reload my Bios settings once I replace my cmos battery. Is there any thing additional I need to do. Please direct me.

Thanks in advance.

As in "reinstall" ,no, however youll have to enter before xp loads, the time,
date,will be off.

Boot the computer and enter the BIOS. Use a pencil or pen
to write down any settings that you see, use the arrow keys
to see each page. Then;
Turn the computer OFF and disconnect the power cord.
Have the new battery out of the package and ready to
install.
Open the computer and remove the old battery and then
install the new battery. The capacitors on the mobo will
keep the BIOS alive for some time as long as you don't short
anything and there was still some charge in the battery you
removed.
Reboot and all should be OK. If there is some problem,
reboot and open the BIOS and check your settings, there may
be a set default setting.

Depending on the condition of the battery, you normally have a
few minutes (perhaps 15 or so) after removing it before
everything is lost. So if you work quickly enough, you may not
have to reenter all the settings.

But it's foolhardy to rely on this. Before removing the battery,
you should copy down all the BIOS settings so you can reenter
them if you need to.
