Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what a CME II Client Application is? I am new to
computers and know very little. Whatever this thing is, it is asking
permission to connect to the Internet. I don't know whether to Allow or Block
it from the Internet. Is there a place I can go where I can lookup something
like this?
Thank you,
Kira

I went to www.google.com and entered "CME II client" as the search term.
Results indicate that this is part of some Gator program. At one time this
company had some neat freeware apps but now many (if not all) of their
offerings include adware or spyware. Use an up to date anti-spyware program
such as Adaware (www.lavasoftusa.com) to identify and clean up the Gator
problem on your system.

CME II Client Application is an online advertising software program.
CME II Client Application was installed on your computer most likely
when you downloaded another program and installed it. Many programs
bundle advertising spyware with their own program to collect extra revenue.
This is usually done with so called "free" software programs. The problem
comes when a program like CME II tracks you when you are on the internet
and reports back to a server what your online activities are.

I recommend you download and install the following program that removes most spyware.
Make sure that you get the latest definition files befoe running the program.

AdAware SE

If this does not resolve the problem, see the following links for more help.

PS: You also asked about how to decide what to allow and what not to allow.
If you don't know what something is, do not allow. Then investigate what
the item is and what it does. If you change your mind about blocking the
application, look in your firewall settings for the area where you can
unblock/allow programs. If you have trouble finding that area, refer to
the program's help file.

NOTE: Some firewall programs include links in the program or in their help
file where you can look up various .exe files. The trail should lead to
information that will help you to decide whether to allow/disallow the
item.

Thank you both so much for your help! Can you explain how I can get the
latest definition files are what they are?
After installing AdAware, use the program's "Update" feature to download
the latest definitions. Follow the onscreen directions for them to be
downloaded and installed.
